I have to express that I was really disappointed with this episode. You guys spent half the podcast scolding people for a position that no one holds. No one is gloating about the tragedy in Texas. What was up with the high horse? I couldn’t finish the shoe. We have so many difficulties to deal with right now and I’m supposed to be upset about people supposedly gloating about folks getting hurt in Texas when that’s not what anyone was doing. It struck me as performative outrage. If people say that others voted for this, you have to be purposely obtuse if you interpret that as meaning people on our side are saying that these voters and their children deserve to die. That is obviously not what anyone is saying. People are fed up with the likes of Ted Cruz, thoughts and prayers, destruction of the agencies meant to respond to these situations, and unresponsive and unaccountable government. If some people are less articulate at saying this, give them the grace of looking at their other positions and ask yourselves if they are truly advocating for the death of other people. The thing is, there really are individuals and an ethos that is advocating for harm. They’re building prisons to lock people up for what is a civil infraction. People have already died in the hands of an unaccountable, secret police force. I am sickened to my stomach. No one wants to consider left positions because we are so scolding and self righteous. That plus an unfavorable media environment that promotes lies makes it really hard for us to gain the progress we so desperately need. Wake up. This is like the socialists and the communists fighting amongst themselves while the Vichy and the nazis march over and destroy everything that is decent. We should be calling people in, not canceling and shaming. I will give your podcast another try, but damn, I just don’t have time to be angry with potential allies because they fail to express themselves exactly as I think they should.
