Last week in right-wing trolling
Here's what you may have missed from the worst people on the internet
Well, it was another week to forget for Twitter’s new owner. You may have heard about the back and forth regarding Twitter’s partnership with The Daily Wire and Matt Walsh’s anti-trans video “What is a Woman?”. The movie’s censorship by the “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk did him no favors with his right-wing fans on Twitter. The original tweet of the movie was shadowbanned and marked with a hateful conduct label by Twitter. Jeremy Boreing, the co-founder of the Daily Wire, cried foul, and Elon Musk quickly caved and ultimately removed that label.
After Elon’s quick about-face with his critics, he was quick to admit to mistakes being made by “many people at Twitter.” Does that include the owner and CEO of the company? Who’s to say…
In order to win back his extremist fans, Musk ended up promoting the movie himself on Twitter.
The same day all of this went down, Musk’s handpicked head of Twitter’s Trust and Safety team resigned. Coincidence? Doubtful. But no one will say for sure.
I felt it necessary to say the self-described theocratic fascist Matt Walsh personally thanked Musk for the “huge win” Elon ultimately gave him.
Anyway, the MAGA Republicans are extremely upset with Kevin McCarthy for making a deal with Joe Biden, not wrecking the economy and forcing us into a global recession. They are arsonists, through and through.
When in doubt, blame the DC “uniparty”.
The Republican Party leadership didn’t read the Durham Report because it’s a meaningless document, Tom.
The Trump and DeSantis social media troll war is in full effect now. Here’s “RINO” Ron riding a rhino, as seen on Trump’s Truth Social account.
It’s Trump against the world, folks. Always has been. Always will be.
In other news, the right-wing outrage energy now includes attempts to boycott Bud Light, Target, Kohl’s and Chick Fil A. We talked more about this on the latest podcast episode, but the gist is they’re angry a black man posted a vanilla corporate statement about diversity, equity and inclusion. The horror! The reasons why will only get more ridiculous from here.
Reality: these “organic uprisings” are driven by a handful of people who shitpost on social media for a living. Millions of people do not support this, and the sooner corporations stop letting these people hold them hostage, the better for all of us.
Ben knows better than anyone. There’s a lack of unity in the messaging, and without Tucker, it’s hard to keep these people focused for long. Everyone is trying to out-content creator the next guy.
That’s it for this week. Until next time, folks!
