I also have no tolerance for jokes regarding political violence. I was born in 1962, so lots of assassinations in my first 6 years of life, and yet my mom thinks it's hilarious (her word) to share memes and videos of right-wing comedians "joking" about killing Democrats. I told her I was disappointed that they want us dead just because we're sick of seeing little kids shot in schools or just want people to have reproductive autonomy and not be forced to follow someone else's religious beliefs. I said she either wasn't the woman who raised me, or I was blind to her hatred all those years. She ignored it for several years and then on my 60th birthday in January 2022 sent me a message of "Happy birthday, from the woman who didn't raise you." followed by another one around Thanksgiving of "I'm sorry you were offended by a joke." If I hadn't already blocked her on Facebook, I could probably go to her page and see Paul Pelosi memes. She bitches about "illegals" and "welfare queens" taking money that could go to veterans. I told her I was one of those government teat-sucking Democrats she hates so much (disabled vet) but maybe she considered me one of the "good ones" or she didn't realize I'm a Democrat. I sent her links to (Trump-era) gov't sites explaining which benefits undocumented immigrants can receive, and it's not the ones she's always complaining about. She ignores those, too. It's such bullshit, for lack of a more eloquent term.
